The TM31 is fully analogue: a speed dial, physical buttons, and a mechanical-style built-in scale, with recipes stored on plug-in chips rather than an app. It's the oldest model still commonly resold, and parts availability is the main thing to weigh against its low price.

What to check on a used TM31
Test the speed dial through its full range
Turn it slowly from lowest to highest speed and back — surging, sticking, or a dead zone partway round usually points to a worn dial or control board.
Run the blade-seal leak test
Fill the bowl with water, leave it standing on paper towel for an hour, and check underneath for dampness. This is the single most common fault on a machine this age.
Check the scale for accuracy
Weigh something with a known weight and compare against the display — a TM31 with an inaccurate scale is a much bigger problem than on newer models, since it has no digital correction.
Listen for grinding or straining at high speed
A noisy motor under load is the clearest sign of a worn blade drive, and repairs get harder to source parts for the longer the model's been discontinued.
Ask whether it's ever been serviced
A TM31 that's had a seal or blade replacement in the last few years is a safer bet than one that's never been opened up in a decade of use.

Accessories that fit a TM31
- Varoma steamer
- TM31-specific — it does not interchange with the TM5, TM6 or TM7 sets.
- Mixing bowl + blade
- TM31-specific pairing. Doesn't fit later models, and later models' bowls don't fit a TM31 base.
- Butterfly whisk
- TM31's whisk has a different shape to the TM5/TM6/TM7 version — check it's the matching one rather than assuming it carries over.
- Recipe chips
- Only work in a TM31 — they're not compatible with any later model, so don't pay extra expecting to reuse them.

Is the TM31 still supported by Vorwerk?
It's long discontinued, and official spare parts are getting harder to find. It still runs reliably in plenty of kitchens, but factor in that repairs may take longer or rely on independent parts sellers.
Can I use TM5 or TM6 accessories on a TM31?
No. The TM31's bowl, blade, Varoma and whisk are all specific to that generation and don't interchange with later models.
Is it worth buying a TM31 in 2026?
If you want a straightforward, no-screen machine at the lowest entry price and don't need guided cooking, yes. If you want an app-guided experience, look at a TM5 or newer instead.
